Prof. PV Konnur was a Fullbright scholar (UIUC, USA) and presently serving as a Chairman, State Level Book Selection Committee, Dept. of Public Libraries, Govt. Of Karnataka. He is a founder president of LIS academy, Bangalore which works with a vision 'Learn Inspire Serve' and with the aim of spreading multidimensional utility and overall growth to the scenario of Librarianship, through education, literature, research, Publications, outsource, Training programs, consultation and collaboration. He is also serving as Adviser, VTU Consortium, Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi - 590 018 since from its inception way back in 2013. He has served as a librarian of Goa University and Bangalore University, then moved to Rani Chennamma University, Belagavi as Professor and Chairman, Dept. of Library & Information Science.

Abstract of the talk:This talk focuses on effective ways of managing libraries - its people, processes, users, resources - with the use of select techniques and tools. 
It aims to allow them to be considered by similar information service units or organisations for deployment as they have proved to be methods that have added value with ease of deployment. 

About speaker:B P Prakash is currently the Senior General Manager & Global head of Information Resources Centre (IRC) at Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (TCS) and operates out of Pune
& Mumbai. At TCS, he directs one of the largest & vibrant library networks in the globe with 125 professionals & 62 libraries. He has made TCS IRC an industry leader through innovative
processes, products & systems.

He has successfully lead TCS library team to win the prestigious ‘Centre of Excellence Award’ from SLA (Special Libraries Association) USA, in 2009. He deployed Balance Score Card to library environment with proven results and set up new trends & benchmarks in Library management. Most recently he was instrumental in the TCS IRC team winning the first ever award for Best technology enabled Library–the LibTech Award-2018, instituted by The Informatics Group. He is very active in major Industry- academic interactions and encourages his large team to participate in L&IS events in India & abroad. He has successfully mobilized grants & resources to many International events like Info-Vision, ICADL, ICoASL, MILAN & many others.

Prakash is frequently invited as Chair, Keynote Speaker or Panelist at events. He has been member of committees, associations and task forces like the Tata Group Librarian's Conclave, MYDLIS & ICoASL, ILA, IASLIC, BOSLA, UGC, Informatics and SLA (Special Libraries Association) in Washington & Tokyo. He is on the Editorial Advisory Board of the Journal of Library Management. He has served has the President of SLA Asian chapter for the year 2011. He was bestowed with ‘MANLIBNET Librarian of the year 2012’, in recognition of his immense contribution to library and information science profession.

A graduate in Science with PG degrees in 'Development Planning and Management' and ‘Library & Information Science', from University of Mysore, Karnataka, India, Prakash is a University Gold Medalist in Library & Information Science and a Fulbright Scholar from University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, USA. With about 35 years of professional experience across national institutes, manufacturing sectors, research environments and global IT/ consulting firms, his professional interests & competencies include Management Practices, Information Product design, User Studies,
Electronic Resources management, Networking, Infrastructure Development, Digitization,application of Management Techniques, Curriculum Development, Training, etc.

He is a Member of SLA USA (Special Library Association) since 1999 life member of ILA (Indian Library Association) IASLIC (Indian Association of Special Libraries and Information Centres) and SIS (Society of Information Science)
